P2. Introduction to Robotics (Project Unit)

This unit is composed of 2 lectures, 3 labs and a final student project. It introduces students to many of the basic concepts or robotics.

For their final project students will design, construct and program their own Lego RCX robot to solve a specific problem. Students will create their code using a programming IDE (intergrated development enviroment) and language called Robolab.

Lectures

This unit has two lectures that help explain fundamental concepts in robotics, and programming in the Robolab enviroment.

Lecture 1: Introduction to Robotics.
Lecture 2: Programming with Robolab.

Labs

These two labs are designed to help students begin working in Robolab and with the RCX robot. They can be started anytime, but it may be advantageous to complete "Lecture 2: Programming with Robolab" first.

Lab 1: Introduction to Robolab.
Lab 2: Continuing with Robolab.

Projects

For their final project students will design, create and program a robot to solve a specific task. Students may choose to attempt one of the challengs in the "Robo-Cup Junior" competition. Instruction sheets and labs to help students attempt "Robo-Cup Junior" like projects are included in this section.
