What is it?
Bridges is a Brooklyn College
program that introduces female and minority students to the wide range
of careers possible with an education in computer science and helps
students develop the early skills necessary to pursue such
careers.
Who is it for?
Bridges has multiple
entry-points, starting from the summer after junior year in high
school and extending through the early college years. Interested
students need not have any background in technology and information
science can be applied to many fields and can be used to help achieve
a broad range of goals. Students from all experience levels, with
strengths in any discipline, science and/or math.
How long are students committed to the program?
At least 1 year.
What do high school students do in this program?
Summer Institute:
In
July 2006, students attend a two-week workshop where they are exposed to
new technologies in graphics, multimedia, robotics and simulations, as
well as practical applications of computing to medical, legal and
business fields.
